Kevin James
Chief Executive Officer
Kevin is the Founder and Chief Executive of Global Carbon Exchange. He is also a director of the Carbon Protocol of SA, a section 21 company that provides a regulated framework for carbon accounting, neutrality and disclosure in SA and head of the adjudication panel for the Annual SA Climate Change Leadership Awards. He is a versatile speaker and expert on corporate sustainability issues and works with many of the largest corporations to derive tangible business value by integrating environmental sustainability strategies into their operations. Kevin has a B Comm from UCT.
Ed Gluckman
Managing Director
After having worked in strategic roles in the IT industry, Ed comes to GCX with a wealth of experience. With eight years’ spent at the forefront of the networking industry, Ed is familiar with new market entry and understands what is required for success in a nascent venture.
A passionate environmentalist and traveller who has spent time in rainforests around the world, Ed has first-hand experience of the extent of rainforest destruction. In GCX, he is responsible for the company’s structure and scalability, and alliance and global strategy. Ed read for a Law degree at South Africa’s Stellenbosch University.

Paris Arey
President - USA
President of GCX’s US subsidiary, Paris oversees all aspects of the company’s management and business development in the US.
Paris brings with him more than 25 years’ experience in sales and marketing teams in both Fortune 500 corporations and early-stage start-up companies. Before joining GCX, Paris was vice-president of international operations for a global leader in the carrier-access market, Adtran Inc.
He also served in executive positions in Cisco Systems, the leader in networking. During his 10 years with Cisco Systems, Paris built and oversaw various multibillion-dollar businesses in the EMEA, the US and the rest of the world. Before that, he held a range of IT management positions in other industry-leading companies such as Digital Electronics, Burroughs Corporation and Tandem Computers.
Presently, Paris sits on the boards of DBAM Systems and the Clara Fund. DBAM is a UK start up in the WAN optimisation and application acceleration market and the Clara Fund is a philanthropic organisation, which focuses on the improvement of women’s living standards in developing countries.
He studied at the University of Southern California and obtained a BS in business administration and marketing.

Jeunesse Park
Public Relations Director
Jeunesse is the founder of the incredibly successful environmental social initiative Food and Trees for Africa (FTFA), started in 1990. She has also been the CEO, publicist and fundraiser for the public benefit organisation. Jeunesse was one of the first South Africans to recognise the threat posed by climate change, campaign for action and implement carbon sinks.
FTFA has distributed more than 3.2-million trees and been instrumental in setting up more than 2,500 organic food gardens for some of the poorest people in South Africa.
Having launched the Carbon Standard in South Africa, Jeunesse has also advised corporations and government department on climate-change and environmental education, as well as communications and marketing in this field.
In 1999, she won the Mail & Guardian Green Trust Award for Established Environmentalist of South Africa, acknowledging her environmental-conservation efforts. Subsequently, she has won the Mail & Guardian Chairman’s Award for Excellence, the Eskom Chairman’s Award, the international Chevron Conservation Award, the Nelson Mandela Forestry Award and, recently, a USA Arbor Day Foundation Award. She was also a co-winner of the 2007 UNEP Sasakawa Climate Change Award.

Terrence Booysen
General Manager - Ukraine
In 2005, Terence entered the renewable energy market as the first biodiesel producer in the Western Province in South Africa. He established a company called TAG, which oversaw collections from more than 3,000 restaurants and converted 120 tons of poultry oil a month to produce fuel for a variety of fleets.
He manufactured and sold the largest biodiesel refinery to Ecomoz (a Mozambique government-run bioenergy company) in 2006. In 2008, he started Biodiesel One Ukraine. In these operations, he collected waste oil from MacDonald’s and fostered a relationship with Landkom in order to test and build heating systems.
Terence became part of GCX in 2008 and his responsibilities include the formulation and implementation of climate-change strategies for Ukraine companies, beginning with large agriculture.
Jacques Loftus
General Manager - Namibia
With a 15-year career in marketing and sales in the medical joint-replacement industry, Jacques has established a number of hugely successful medical companies in Namibia. He lives in Namibia and, throughout his sales career, has consistently delivered growth in his field.
A passionate environmentalist, Jacques derives a great deal of his energy and inspiration from the ocean. Because of this, he is very aware of the implications of climate change and how it threatens nature’s balance.
In 2008, he joined GCX, hoping to use his business skills to help in the fight against climate change and its disastrous consequences.
Marc Pop
Director Projects - Indonesia
Most of Marc’s career has been spent in the fields of renewable energy and environmental technology. Starting in the area of wind power in South Africa, he subsequently became passionate about Solar Photovoltaics when he undertook a research project at the Centre for Energy and Environmental markets at the UNSW. After this, he travelled to Germany for work experience and worked on PV Policy in Australia.
Well-travelled, Marc has worked in Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Australia, South Africa and Indonesia. During this period, Marc developed a comprehensive understanding of carbon markets, as well as the variables that influence the realisation of environmental objectives within the framework of market mechanisms.
Deliberately opting for a hands-on, interdisciplinary education, Marc holds a degree from Constance University of Applied Science (Germany) in controlling and business strategy. During this time, he also engaged in economics studies at the London School of Economics.

Ohad Shachar
Sustainability Manager
Heading up GCX’s teams of sustainable business analysts, Ohad is responsible for delivering the company’s climate-change response programme to clients.
With a background in biochemistry, Ohad has considerable experience in energy and greenhouse gas auditing. In fact, he was the lead data analyst for the South African Cities State of Energy Report, which entailed the collection and analysis of energy data for 15 South African local authorities.
During the considerable period of time he spent in Edinburgh, Ohad provided strategic support in the area of sustainable and efficient energy policy to housing associations, local authorities and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs).
Ohad conducted carbon and ecological footprints for housing associations and SMEs, as well as developing and managing energy projects for communities in the area.
