HELPING PROJECT OWNERS DEVELOP CARBON INITIATIVES
In accordance with global and national standards, GCX helps project owners develop, structure and register carbon projects.
GCX’s international team offer project owners end-to-end support and services that find, create and evaluate carbon project opportunities, under the guidelines of the Kyoto Protocol Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) or voluntary schemes.
These services include:
• Initial investigation
• Feasibility studies
• The development of full project documentation
• Guidance through the project approval process.
From a revenue perspective, GCX will also guarantee a constant income for these projects through the purchase of emissions reduction credits from the project for a certain period of time at a fixed price.
GCX offers these projects integrated project financing, as well as trade in carbon credits created through emissions reduction projects in both voluntary and mandatory markets.
GCX has established, specialist knowledge in the following sectors:
Generating renewable energy
• Biomass plants
• Mini-hydro
• Solar farms
• Waste-to-energy
• Wind power
Carbon sequestration
Carbon sequestration involves the storage of atmospheric carbon in the biomass of vegetation, such as trees and bushes, or in the soil through agriculture management.
Places in which atmospheric carbon dissolves forming carbonate rocks, such as forestry, soils and oceans, are called “sinks”.
Carbon sequestration projects include:
• Avoided deforestation
• Improving forest management
• Reforestation
• Soil carbon capture
Reducing industrial emissions
• Coal-mine methane
• Efficient energy usage
• Fuel switch projects
Methane capture projects
• Animal manure
• Landfills
• Sewage
